Book Review : Lovely bones – Alice Sebold

Lovely Bones is a story of a young girl’s life after death. She narrates the story from heaven. It is the story of her family , her neighbors and few friends whom she loved.
The rape and murder of the eldest daughter of the family leaves the family in shock. A shock which was hard to get over. She narrates how each of her  family members behaved and her emotions whenever she was mentioned. The first kiss she had with a boy she loved and  her younger sister kissing for the first time. How her parents get separated and how they reunite again. How her killer is not caught and how fate kills him.
An interesting read , though not that great  a book.

These were the lovely bones that had grown around my absence: the connections — sometimes tenuous, sometimes made at great cost, but often magnificent — that happened after I was gone. And I began to see things in a way that let me hold the world without me in it. The events my death brought were merely the bones of a body that would become whole at some unpredictable time in the future. The price of what I came to see as this miraculous lifeless body had been my life”
